Review-We Were Liars

Writing a review when you're supposed to lie about the end of a book is something I never thought I would have to do, so bare with me if this review happens to be shorter than all of my others.  When I started We Were Liars the only thing I knew about it was the incredibly vague cover copy (aka what goes on the inside flap of the book) and that most people ended up going "OH MY GOD" at the very end of the book, but then, if you're supposed to lie does that mean the end really made them go "meh"?  Something happens in this book that makes people freak out and had one small thing been left out I might have been started to freak out to, but it turns out I wasn't.  That's frustrating sometimes, but the writing in this book was so beautiful it kind of overshadowed that.  The plot was interesting, and while I'm not entirely sure I would call it a thriller like some have, it had an element of mystery that did run throughout the whole novel.  As for the characters, there were several points when I really wanted to slap a few of them, but seeing as the book is about entitled teenagers that's not anything that I didn't expect.  Besides the writing the other thing about this novel that I really loved was the fact that the main character basically had a disability.  It wasn't external, like a lost leg, but internal, in the form of migraines.  While I don't suffer from migraines myself I know people who do, and I know what it's like to be looked at like the weird kid because you're always sick, and you're overly pale.  I connected with Cady on that level.  Basically while I didn't LOVE the book I did enjoy it, and it's a quick read with a rather lyrical style at some points.  There were parts that seemed to almost be half poem and had that sort of ring to it that fans of Shatter Me should enjoy.  This book is already slated to become a huge success, and while I can't speculate as to how big of a success it will be, I know it's going to be big, so I would suggest giving it a try, because it's worth the time and you just might be surprised.
